450 Fixed Network

An LPN makes you the BOSS!

Owning an FCC licensed network that you don't have to share with anyone else means that you are in control!

LPN Components

Tesla Net Licensed Private Network (LPN) uses the 450-470 MHz licensed frequency band to provide a private network specific to your utility so you can read your meters from the office (AMI). Tesla Net collects meter data through an AMI point-to-multi-point LPN using fixed network data collectors.

Using licensed frequencies is important because more and more technologies are added to unlicensed 900 MHz and LoRa network bands every day. As traffic noise goes up endpoint transmission range reduces and the performance of those networks go down over time. The unlicensed 900 MHz band is fine for a drive-by system because you can move the receiver closer to the endpoint, but a "fixed" network means that the data collectors are "fixed" to towers or other assets. When your network performance suffers, you won't be able to read the meters you could before unless you add more data collectors.

An FCC licensed network means your meter system doesn't have to compete with any other technology. Trees are going to grow and people are going to build buildings, but for the most part the performance your licensed network has on day one will be the performance it has years down the road. Why would you want to compete with every technology that might be invented in the next 10 years when owning an FCC licensed network means you don't have to?

Tesla Net LPN offers significant range with a Fixed Network Collector providing coverage up to 3.5 miles in any direction from a tower, which is particularly economical in populated areas. Of course, the LPN also has a drive-by AMR option that doesn’t require any endpoint programming, so you can choose your read strategy as it makes sense or just have a great drive-by backup.
